My Story
My Path to Elder Companionship and End‑of‑Life Support
A Stable Presence was created in 2022.
After working as an Enrolled Nurse across hospitals, aged care facilities, and in the community, my heart knew there was a different kind of care I wanted to offer – one where our elderly and their loved ones felt truly seen, supported, and genuinely cared for.
Through my work in aged care, I became aware of a quiet but significant gap in our system. I witnessed many families sitting beside their loved ones through the active stages of dying with very little support. I also saw the same absence earlier in the ageing journey – older people receiving their essential care, yet longing for unhurried, meaningful conversation and genuine human connection.
While basic needs such as meals, personal care, and nursing were often met, what was frequently missing was time. Someone to sit, to listen, to reassure, and to simply be present.
It was here that I felt called to create something different.
When I sit with the elderly, what matters most to me is that they know they are safe with me. Safe to speak of worries or fears, or simply to share their life stories. Safe to be met without hurry, to be truly witnessed.
I have always felt a quiet responsibility towards those who are vulnerable – whether elderly, unwell, or unable to speak for themselves. That sensitivity has followed me into this work and continues to guide how I care for both people and animals.
This work is rooted in the belief that ageing and dying deserve dignity, tenderness, and companionship – not only for the individual, but also for the families who walk alongside them. A Stable Presence exists to offer that missing layer of care: calm companionship, emotional support, and a steady presence throughout both the ageing journey and the end‑of‑life transition.
I am based in Townsville and was born and raised in Airlie Beach. I am drawn to wide mountain views, changing seasons (particularly autumn), and a slower, more intentional rhythm of life. I find grounding in gardening, in the quiet companionship of animals, in water, and in listening to devotional music. I believe in slowing down, in listening deeply, and in meeting people exactly where they are. These values are not separate from my work – they are the way I show up.
If you find yourself here, navigating ageing, loss, or the quiet in‑between moments, you are welcome. You don’t need to walk this part of the journey alone.
I have worked as an Enrolled Nurse across hospitals, aged care facilities, and in the community. This experience has given me both practical understanding and emotional steadiness when supporting individuals and families during vulnerable stages of life.
I have also completed end‑of‑life doula training to deepen my understanding of the dying process and the practical, emotional, and spiritual support that surrounds it.
